In the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad played a match with Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 10 runs. Chasing the target of 188 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s team was able to score 177 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Manish Pandey scored the highest 61 runs and remained unbeaten. Apart from him, Johnny Bairstow scored 55 runs. He hit three sixes and five fours in his innings.

For KKR, the famous Krishna took the maximum wickets which were two. Apart from him, Pat Cummins, Shakib Ali Hassan, and Andre Russell took one wicket. Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor start. David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha returned to the pavilion within 7 runs. Warner became the victim of Siddha Krishna after scoring 3 runs. Saha was out on the first ball of Shakib Al Hasan’s over. Earlier, after Kolkata Knight Riders invited for batting, half-centuries from opener Nitish Rana (80) and Rahul Tripathi (53) set a challenging target of 187 for six against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rashid Khan bowled the best for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He took two wickets for 24 runs. Apart from him, the other bowlers of the team did not look so effective on the wicket suited to the batsmen.

Left-handed opener Nitish Rana gave the team a brilliant start. Shubman Gill was initially quite calm. He hit three consecutive four off Sandeep Sharma’s balls. Gill then hit a six off Natarajan. The run speed of Kolkata Knight Riders was affected as Rashid handled the ball. Rashid dodges Gill and uproots his stumps. Gill scored 15 runs. Rana stood firmly at the other end and completed his half-century with a six off Vijay Shankar. Rahul Tripathi, who replaced Gill, was also full of confidence and he steadily moved his innings forward. He hit the third man after hitting a six over Bhubaneswar. Tripathi completed his half-century with another four off Bhuvneshwar, but Natarajan soon sent him to the pavilion.

Rahul Tripathi scored 53 runs off 29 balls. Rana and Rahul Tripathi shared a 93-run partnership for the second wicket. After this, Rashid again sent the dangerous Andre Russell to the pavilion for 5 runs. Mohammad Nabi consistently dismissed Rana and Eoin Morgan (02) in their 18th over. He took two wickets for 32 runs. Dinesh Karthik finally extended the Kolkata Knight Riders innings by scoring an unbeaten 22 off nine balls, but despite this, the team could manage only 42 runs in the final five overs.
