IPL 2019 – MI v DC: Yuvraj’s fifty in vain as Delhi Capitals pulls off a 37-run win

Delhi Capitals team opened their IPL 2019 campaign with a 37-run victory over Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai (MI) who is the three-time champions. Mumbai Indians started the IPL season with losses. After deciding to bowl on another good batting pitch in Wankhede, nothing was right for them. The target of 214 runs was always going to be difficult and the early wickets pushed the host team forward.

Chasing a huge score of 214 for the win, the domestic team was off to a steady start as captain Rohit Sharma, De Kock and Pollard debuted. Krunal played threatfully but one of them had to bat deep, which did not happen.  Left-arm Quinton de Kock added 33 runs for the first wicket.

In his 300th T20 match, Rohit has been dismissed by Ishant Sharma for 14 runs. Left-arm Quinton de Kock and Rohit added 33 runs for the first wicket. Due to the spectacular display of Delhi Capitals’ captain Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav got out cheaply on 2 runs.

Soon, MI lost De Kock at 27 runs (4 fours, 1 six) at 16 balls. On the score of 45/3, Yuvraj Singh got involved with Kieron Pollard as the pair added 50 runs for the fourth wicket. Pollard finished with 21 runs in 13 balls (2 fours, 1 six).

In the next over, MI was a big shock, because Hardik Pandya bowled Axar Patel’s first ball in 11.2 overs, MI at 95/5. Krunal Pandya’s 15 balls (5 fours, 1 six) 32 runs gave MI some chance, but after being dismissed, it was very difficult to pursue a huge target for the only warrior Yuvraj Singh.

In his first match for Mumbai Indians, Yuvraj scored 53 runs (5 fours, 3 sixes) in 35 balls which weren’t enough and the result that host lost by 37 runs. Yuvraj was the top scorer with a fifty, but honestly, he never played like to win it. Prior to this, Rishab Pant’s 78 runs in 27 balls, on the astronomical strike rate of 288.89, Delhi Capitals posted 213/6 on the board.

DC bowlers used slow balls well and due to lack of dew, the domestic team struggled for a long time. It was said that the night was Pant who, after playing a magnificent inning, delivered Delhi to a huge total with the help of Ingram and Dhawan.

It was always going to be tough on behalf of MI, who did not pursue a score of more than 200 in the IPL game. Credit for the new franchisee, who won the inaugural match of IPL for the first time since 2013 Can they continue this? Will tell you the coming days.
