New Zealand Beat Afghanistan By 7 Wickets- ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

ICC World Cup-2019: After the brutal bowling attack of James Neesham (31-5) and Lucky Ferguson (37-4), with support of Captain Kane Williamson (79 not out) inning, New Zealand defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets in their third match of the ICC World Cup played on Saturday at Tottington Cooper Associates County Ground.

This is the third consecutive victory of the Kiwi team, which has participated the finals of the last edition of the World Cup, while Afghanistan has consistently won the third defeat. With this victory, the New Zealand team is firmly placed in the first place in the table with 10 points and a strong net run rate.

Aftab Alam Got New Zealand’s Three Wickets

Bowling first after winning the toss, New Zealand all-out Afghanistan for 172 runs in 42.1 overs and then achieved the target by losing three wickets in 32.1 overs. Martin Guptill (0) could not open the account in this match, but Colin Munro (22), Ross Taylor (48) and Tom Latham (13 not out) made an unbeaten stand.

Williamson’s innings of 99 balls included nine fours, while Taylor scored six fours and a six in 52 balls. Whatever New Zealand lost wickets, they went into Aftab Alam’s account.

New Zealand Register Third Consecutive Win In World Cup

As far as Afghanistan is concerned, Hashmatullah Shahidi has scored 59 runs. Apart from this, Hazratullah Zazai (34), Noor Ali Zadran (31) and Aftab Alam contributed 14 runs. James Neesham became the first bowler to take five wickets in this World Cup and for this, he was selected Man of the Match.
