Chennai defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 wickets, thanks to the thrilling innings of opener Shane Watson (96) on Tuesday. SRH presented a strong challenge of 176 runs in this match played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
In reply, Chennai achieved this target in 19.5 overs at the loss of 4 wickets. Watson scored highest for Chennai and hit 9 fours and 6 sixes in his 53 balls inning.
Apart from Watson, Suresh Raina (38), Ambati Rayudu (21) and Faf du Plessis contributed 1 run. On behalf of Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, and Sandeep Sharma got one wicket each.
The current champion Chennai has reached the top of the table with 16 points after eight wins in 11 matches and has almost made its place in the playoffs. At the same, Hyderabad has faced fifth defeat in 10 matches and the team is in fourth with 10 points.
In the first inning
Hyderabad present target of 175 runs by losing 3 wickets in 20 overs. Manish Pandey (83 not out) made the most runs for Hyderabad. He hit 7 fours and three sixes in his 49-ball innings.
Sunrisers Hyderabad started badly and the team lost the first wicket on a total of 5 runs. Without starting the inning with Warner, Johnny Bairstow returning the pavilion without opening the account. Harbhajan Singh made his prey on the third ball of the second over.
Warner completed his half-century in 37 balls. This is his 43rd half-century in IPL. However, after completing his fifty he could not stay on the crease much. Harbhajan Singh sent him pavilion on the third ball of the 14th over. Warner batted carefully after the first wicket fell quickly with Manish Pandey and share an important partnership of 113 runs for a second wicket.
