Pakistan beat South Africa by 49 runs in the ICC World Cup 2019. In the match played at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, Pakistan presented a challenge of 308 runs. In reply, the South African team could have scored 259 runs in the allotted 50 overs for 9 wickets. This is Pakistan’s second win in the tournament.
Captain Faf du Plessis Hit Half-century
Captain Faf du Plessis (63) scored the highest score by the African team. He hit 5 fours in his 79-ball knock. With this defeat, South Africa’s team got out of the semi-final race. South Africa, led by Faf du Plessis, is in the eighth position in the points table with three points in seven matches. Pakistan has remained in the semi-finals after winning this match. Apart from winning his remaining three matches, he has to rely on the results of the other teams.
The start of South Africa was disappointing and the first wicket fell as the Hashim Amla (1) in the second over. After that Quinton de Kock (47) and Du Plessis shared an 87-run partnership for the second wicket. After being dismissed in the 20th over of De Kock, the African team could not make any big partnerships, due to which they had to suffer as a defeat.
Du Plessis out in 30th. Rassie van der Dussain (36), David Miller (31), Lungi Ngidi (1), Kagiso Rabada (3), Chris Morris (16), Aiden Markram contributed only 7. Besides, Andile Phehlukwayo 46 and Imran Tahir scored one run and returned unbeaten pavilion.
Shadab Khan and Wahab Riaz took three-three wickets while Mohammad Amir picked up two wickets from Pakistan side. Shaheen Afridi got one wicket.
Earlier, Pakistan batted first after winning the toss and score 308 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Haris Sohail (89) has scored most runs for Pakistan. He hit nine fours and three sixes in his 58-ball knock.
Apart from them, Babar Azam (69), Fakhar Jamam (44), Imam-ul-Haq (44), Imad Wasim (23) Mohammad Hafeez (20) and Wahab Riaz scored four runs. Sarfaraz Ahmed 2 and Shadab Khan remained unbeaten by score 1 run. Lungi Ngidi got three wickets, Imran Tahir got two, while Aiden Markram and Andile Phehlukwayo picked up one wicket each from South Africa side
