IPL 2019; 2nd QLFR: Chennai Break Delhi’s Dream, Reached In Final

The second qualifier match of IPL 2019 was played between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Visakhapatnam’s YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium. In this match, Chennai defeated Delhi by six wickets to enter the finals of the 12th edition of the IPL. In the final, Chennai will compete with Mumbai on May 12 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Batting first, losing the toss in the match, Delhi Capitals scored 147 for 9 in 20 overs. Rishabh Pant top scored with 38 runs for Delhi. For Chennai, Bhajji, Chahar, Jadeja, and Bravo took 2-2 wickets. Imran Tahir’s took 1 wicket.

Delhi Did Not Recover From Bad Start

Delhi Capitals started poorly in the match but that they could not recover till the end. Delhi had lost 5 wickets for just 80 runs in 12.5 overs at a time. Rishabh Pant held one end and led Delhi to a respectable score by taking small partnerships with lower-order batsmen.

Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra got the boundary in the last two overs, brought Delhi’s score to 147, otherwise, it was difficult to score a score of 130. Prithvi Shaw 5 and Shikhar Dhawan scored 18 runs. Colin Munro scored 27 runs. In response to this, Chennai’s start is a great one.

Du Plessis And Watson Hit 50

Openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis of Chennai struggled to make runs for the first four overs. But the good thing was that the wicket did not fall. After this du Plessis changed his gear and convincingly with Watson, the score of Chennai reached 81 in 10.1 overs without any loss.

Du Plessis was dismissed in 39 balls with 7 fours and 1 sixes. Shane Watson also scored 50 runs in 32 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Suresh Raina scored 11 and MS Dhoni scored 9 runs. Ambati Rayudu remained unbeaten on 20 runs. Dwayne Bravo also returned unbeaten without opening the account. For Delhi, Bolt, Ishant, Akshar, and Amit Mishra took 1-1 wicket.


DC vs RCB: Delhi Capitals beat RCB to seal playoff berth after seven years

Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs on the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Sunday. With this defeat, Virat Kohli’s RCB has been out of the playoffs of the IPL-12.

Delhi Capitals have entered the playoffs of IPL after seven years, thanks to the strong performance of the bowlers after Captain Shreyas Iyer (52) and Shikhar Dhawan (50).

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. The hosts scored 187 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the RCB team could score 171 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. With this win, Delhi’s team has also reached the top spot in the points table.

RCB inning highlights

Chasing the target of 188 runs on the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Parthiv Patel (39) and captain Virat Kohli gave a bang starting to team. Both of them added 63 runs in 5.5 overs.

Kagiso Rabada gave the first blow to the team by dismissing Patel. Soon after, Axar Patel gave Delhi a big success by dismissing RCB’s captain Virat Kohli.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann (27) and Marcus Stonis made the competition exciting by sharing a 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket. In the 19th over Ishant Sharma broke this partnership by dismissed Gurkeerat.

In the last over, RCB needed 26 runs to win, but could only make 10 runs. Kagiso Rabada and Amit Mishra took two wickets each from Delhi. Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel, and Sherfane Rutherford have each wicket.

Both the teams have so far played 22 matches in IPL. Of which Delhi won 7 matches, and Bangalore won 14, while there was no result in 1 match.

The Rajasthan Royals won a match by 7 wickets in the IPL against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. With this victory, Rajasthan has retained the possibility of reaching its playoffs. This victory of Rajasthan has benefitted Chennai Super Kings. This victory of Rajasthan has made Chennai the first team to reach the playoffs.

In the match played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Rajasthan’s bowlers did not allow Hyderabad to score big. The hosts needed just 161 runs to win, which they achieved by losing three wickets in 19.1 overs. This was Rajasthan’s last match in his home where they won.

Rajasthan played seven matches in his home, from which he won three and got defeat in four matches. It was Rajasthan’s 12th match, out of which they won five and lost seven. After two points from this victory, it has got 10 points and it has come in sixth place in the table.

Orange Cap’s Player

David Warner of Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 37 runs on Saturday. He has scored 611 runs and he is still at the forefront of the Orange Cap race. Jonny Bairstow (445) on the second and Chris Gayle (444) on the third. Warner is ahead of 150 runs with both of these players.

Despite the match played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur, Kagiso Rabada is also capturing Purple-cap with 23 wickets. After them, Imran Tahir (17) on the second and Shreyas Gopal (15) on the third position. Gopal took 2 wickets for 30 runs against Hyderabad.


Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 46 runs on Friday in IPL-12. Mumbai has defeated Chennai this season for the second time. Earlier, in the match at the Wankhede stadium, Mumbai beat Chennai by 37 runs. Mumbai presented a challenge of 156 runs in the match played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In reply, Chennai’s team got stuck on 109 runs in 17.4 overs. This is the first defeat in their home in Chennai this season. With this victory, Mumbai has reached number two in the points table with 14 points. At the same, Chennai is at the top with points of 16 points in the points table.

Parag, Archer take Rajasthan Royals to thrilling win as KKR slump to sixth straight defeat

Rajasthan Royals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by three wickets in IPL-12 on Thursday. In this exciting match played at the Eden Gardens ground, Rajasthan has won four balls remaining. This is Kolkata’s sixth consecutive defeat. Kolkata offered a strong challenge of 176 runs in front of the hosts, whose bowlers could not defend.

In reply, Rajasthan achieved this target at a loss of 7 wickets in 19.2 overs. Rajasthan needed 9 runs to win in the last over of the Prasidh Krishna. Jofra Archer, who was on strike, hit four in the first ball and then hit six on the next and added 2 points for his team.

Riyan Parag (47) scored the highest runs for Rajasthan. He planted 5 fours and two sixes in his 31-ball innings. Jaffra Archer 27 runs in 12 balls. Piyush Chawla took three wickets, Sunil Narine got two wickets, Andre Russell, and Prasidh Krishna got 1-1 wickets.
