Mumbai Indians (MI) bowler Alzari Joseph jubilate with his teammates after wins during the Indian Premier League2019

22-year-old Alzarri Joseph registered a record on his name in the IPL 2019 with a six-wicket haul as result Mumbai Indians decimated Sunrisers Hyderabad to 40 runs win on Saturday.

Chasing the target of 137, SRH team out for 90. Josef’s 6/12 figures are by far the best in the IPL, surpassing the record set by Sohail Tanvir of Pakistan, who played for Rajasthan Royals in the first IPL season.

First Innings:

Mumbai Indians, Kieron Pollard smashed 39 runs in the 19th and 20th over and pushed MI’s total to 136/7 on a pitch that worked wonders for pacers. Until Pollard was playing normally, Hyderabad put up an impressive bowling effort on a slow pitch.

While Hyderabad kept an unchanged side, Mumbai Indians made two changes in the playing eleven and replaced Ishan Kishan in place of Yuvraj Singh, and West Indian fast bowler Alzarri Joseph in the position of Lasith Malinga, who has gone to Sri Lanka to play in a domestic event.

It was not the best beginning for Mumbai, in which captain Rohit Sharma dismissed for 11 runs, Suryakumar Yadav for 7 runs and that time score was 30 runs for two wickets in six overs.

Stroke play was proving difficult on a slow surface and the situation worsened for the visitor team when after attempting to increase the scoring rate, the in-form opener Quinton de Coke (19) got out. The batsmen fought especially against Nabi, who ended their overs with clear figures of 13 for one. Mumbai’s innings was rarely a flaw when Pollard hit three big sixes in 19 death overs that went for 20 runs.

Second innings: –

West Indies players played the biggest game of the day for MI. While Pollard was a standout batsman, his young partner Alzarri Joseph was the hero with the ball.

Prior to them, Rahul Chahar dismissed Johnny Bairstow in the fourth over of the game. Thus, this was the first time this season that SRH lost one wicket in the overs of Powerplay and for the first time, Bairstow and Warner did not score 50 runs.

The partnership between Warner and Bairstow was 33 runs, and he scored the highest score for SRH because, with the help of JAlzarri Joseph and Rahul Chahar, SRH sent also rest of the batting order to the pavilion.

Interestingly, MI’s star bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has been successful in taking only one wicket on that day. Joseph took two wickets in the 18th over of the game, which was his mantra to record his six-wicket record and the victory of Mumbai Indians.
