PBKS vs CSK, IPL 2021, 8th Match:- Chennai’s bowler caused havoc, beat Punjab

In the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Chennai Super Kings defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. Batting first, the Punjab Kings’ explosive batting order was shattered like cards in front of CSK bowlers and the team could only manage 106 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. For the team, young batsman Shah Rukh Khan scored the most 47 runs. In reply, Chennai achieved the target of 107 runs on the back of Moeen Ali (47) and Faf du Plessis’s 36-run unbeaten innings by losing four wickets in just 15.3 overs.

Chasing a target of 107 runs, Chennai did not start well and the team lost the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad on a score of just 24 runs. Ruturaj was disappointed with his batting in the second match in a row and was able to score just 5 runs after facing 16 balls. After this, Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis shared a 64-run partnership for the second wicket and almost ensured the victory of CSK. Moeen Ali was dismissed for 41 off 31 balls by Murugan Ashwin. After this, Mohammed Shami dismissed Suresh Raina (8) and Ambati Rayudu without opening the account within two balls. In the final, The pair of Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis led the team to victory.

Earlier, the Chennai Super Kings bowlers took four wickets for 26 runs in the Powerplay, justifying the captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s decision to bowl first. In this, the important role was played by Deepak Chahar who bowled Mayank Agarwal (0) in the first over and sent it to the pavilion. Even after that, they kept the pressure and allowed only two fours in four overs spell. In-form Punjab captain KL Rahul (05) was run out by a stunning throw from Ravindra Jadeja on the short cover when Rahul was trying to steal a run. Then in the fifth over, Jadeja dived and grabbed an excellent catch and ended Chris Gayle’s 10-run inning, which was Chahar’s second wicket.

Nicholas Pooran was dismissed for a second time at zero; he caught out by Shardul Thakur at log leg in Chahar’s short ball. Deepak Hooda (10) was dismissed in the seventh over with an easy catch to Faf du Plessis and it was Chahar’s fourth wicket.

The team’s score at this time was 26 for five wickets. Shah Rukh Khan and Jay Richardson added 31 runs for the sixth wicket. Murugan Ashwin (06) then added 30 runs along with Shah Rukh Khan to help Punjab reach this score. Shah Rukh Khan scored 47 runs for Punjab and he was dismissed by Sam Curran in the last over.

In the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Sunrisers Hyderabad played a match with Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 10 runs. Chasing the target of 188 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s team was able to score 177 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Manish Pandey scored the highest 61 runs and remained unbeaten. Apart from him, Johnny Bairstow scored 55 runs. He hit three sixes and five fours in his innings.

For KKR, the famous Krishna took the maximum wickets which were two. Apart from him, Pat Cummins, Shakib Ali Hassan, and Andre Russell took one wicket. Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor start. David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha returned to the pavilion within 7 runs. Warner became the victim of Siddha Krishna after scoring 3 runs. Saha was out on the first ball of Shakib Al Hasan’s over. Earlier, after Kolkata Knight Riders invited for batting, half-centuries from opener Nitish Rana (80) and Rahul Tripathi (53) set a challenging target of 187 for six against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rashid Khan bowled the best for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He took two wickets for 24 runs. Apart from him, the other bowlers of the team did not look so effective on the wicket suited to the batsmen.

Left-handed opener Nitish Rana gave the team a brilliant start. Shubman Gill was initially quite calm. He hit three consecutive four off Sandeep Sharma’s balls. Gill then hit a six off Natarajan. The run speed of Kolkata Knight Riders was affected as Rashid handled the ball. Rashid dodges Gill and uproots his stumps. Gill scored 15 runs. Rana stood firmly at the other end and completed his half-century with a six off Vijay Shankar. Rahul Tripathi, who replaced Gill, was also full of confidence and he steadily moved his innings forward. He hit the third man after hitting a six over Bhubaneswar. Tripathi completed his half-century with another four off Bhuvneshwar, but Natarajan soon sent him to the pavilion.

Rahul Tripathi scored 53 runs off 29 balls. Rana and Rahul Tripathi shared a 93-run partnership for the second wicket. After this, Rashid again sent the dangerous Andre Russell to the pavilion for 5 runs. Mohammad Nabi consistently dismissed Rana and Eoin Morgan (02) in their 18th over. He took two wickets for 32 runs. Dinesh Karthik finally extended the Kolkata Knight Riders innings by scoring an unbeaten 22 off nine balls, but despite this, the team could manage only 42 runs in the final five overs.
