Andre Russell of Kolkata Knight Riders and Shrikant Mundh of Kolkata Knight Riders celebrate the win during match 2 of the Vivo Indian Premier League Season 12, 2019

In match 2 of VIVO Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL 2019), Andre Russell scored an explosive 49 runs to spoil David Warner’s brilliant IPL return as Kolkata Knight Riders won a spectacular victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eden Gardens by six wickets on Sunday. It was such a dramatic match where Sunrisers Hyderabad had scored 181 for just 3 wickets and gave tough achievement target to KKR. But Kolkata won it with enthusiasm rather they lost 3 wickets more than Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Entered Needing 53 runs in the last three overs, the powerful Jamaican changed the order of the match with his big-hitting against Siddharth Kaul and scored 19 runs from that over.

He retained the strike with a smart single and continued his attack on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also scored 19 runs in the penultimate over as KKR completes the 182-run chase without using the last two balls. Russell hit four sixes and 3 fours, which is that way 6-6-1-4-1-4-6-4-0-6-1. Young player Shubhaman Gill (18 not out) completed the formalities by attacking Shakib Al Hasan for two sixes.

Russell turns the match victory

After Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s over, Siddarth Kaul returned in the attack and Russell sent the first ball to the six and similarly, the second ball was sent out of the boundaries. After two fantastic sixes, Rusell again scored a four off the fifth ball.

But the round of Russell’s Boundaries did not end here, after Siddarth Kaul it was now Bhuvneshwar turn. Russell hit the first ball for four at a long-on boundary and again smashed the second ball for SIX.  Bhubaneswar now threw a yorker but Russell’s adept squeeze it and the ball sent straight out of the boundary.

Everything was going to be planned, this long way with 181 seemed difficult, but again, Russell has made many such conventional analogies dumb, really dumb.

Gill finished the match in his style as Gill hit two sixes in the last over of Shakib. What a match this has been. KKR hits 50 runs in the last three overs. It’s a six-wicket win for the hosts in the end.
