IPL 2019 Final: Mumbai Beat Chennai By 1 Run, Win The Fourth Title

Lasith Malinga redeemed himself as he dismissed Shardul Thakur on the last ball of the match and with that Mumbai beat Chennai by 1 run to claim

Mumbai Indians defeated their rival Chennai Super Kings by 1 run in the IPL final in 2019 and won the title for the fourth time. In the match played at Hyderabad-based Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first.

But the Chennai Super Kings bowler proved Rohit’s decision wrong, while Chennai Super Kings prevented Mumbai Indians for 149 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. For the last over for Chennai, all was going well but Shane Watson (80) was run out. Chennai needed 2 runs to win the final ball. Lasith Malinga poked Shardul Thakur on the same over and put the fourth IPL title in the Mumbai account. Chennai could score 148 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Run Out Of Shane Watson Proved To Be Turning Point

Shane Watson hit eight fours and four sixes in 59 balls. Watson also got three lives in this match, but he still could not win the match against Chennai. The three-time champion Mumbai has been in the final for the fifth time. In the match played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai presented a weak challenge of 132 runs. In reply, Mumbai easily achieved this target at a 4-wicket loss in 18.3 overs.

Despite this defeat, there is still another chance for Chennai to reach the finals. The team of Chennai will now compete in the second qualifier from the winning side of the Eliminator match. In Eliminator Match, Delhi capitals will battle with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mumbai Play Unbeatable Performance After A Disappointing Start

Suryakumar Yadav (Not out 71) scored the highest score for Mumbai. He hit 10 fours in his 54-ball knock. Mumbai started a match with a disappointing performance. His openers Rohit Sharma (4) and Quintan Dikouk (8) returned to the pavilion soon.

However, Suryakumar, who came for batting at number three, kept one end and won a match for the team and returned to the pavilion after playing spectacular performance. He made an important partnership of 80 runs with Ishant Kishan (28) for the third wicket. After this, he put on an unbeaten partnership of 31 runs for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya (13 not out) and get direct entry in final.

Both of them made an unbeatable partnership of 66 runs for the fifth wicket. Dhoni initially batted a bit slow but he got the momentum quickly. He made 3 sixes in his 29-ball knock. The Chennai team scored 35 runs in the last four overs, due to which they could reach a somewhat respectable score. Rahul Chahar got two wickets from Mumbai while Krunal Pandya and Jayant Yadav got one wicket each.


DC vs RCB: Delhi Capitals beat RCB to seal playoff berth after seven years

Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs on the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Sunday. With this defeat, Virat Kohli’s RCB has been out of the playoffs of the IPL-12.

Delhi Capitals have entered the playoffs of IPL after seven years, thanks to the strong performance of the bowlers after Captain Shreyas Iyer (52) and Shikhar Dhawan (50).

Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. The hosts scored 187 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs in the stipulated 20 overs. In response, the RCB team could score 171 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. With this win, Delhi’s team has also reached the top spot in the points table.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann (27) and Marcus Stonis made the competition exciting by sharing a 49-run partnership for the sixth wicket. In the 19th over Ishant Sharma broke this partnership by dismissed Gurkeerat.

In the last over, RCB needed 26 runs to win, but could only make 10 runs. Kagiso Rabada and Amit Mishra took two wickets each from Delhi. Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel, and Sherfane Rutherford have each wicket.

Both the teams have so far played 22 matches in IPL. Of which Delhi won 7 matches, and Bangalore won 14, while there was no result in 1 match.


Delhi Capitals beat Kings XI Punjab by five wickets in New Delhi on Saturday. Shreyas Iyer, who remained unbeaten of 58 runs from 49 balls

The 37th match of IPL 2019 was played between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium. In this match, Delhi Capitals defeated Kings XI Punjab by 5 wickets. This is the sixth win in 10 matches in the 12th edition of IPL.

And now they are in third place in the IPL 2019 point table with 12 points. Punjab’s team is in fourth place in the table with 10 points after 5 wins and 5 losses in 10 matches. Chennai and Mumbai are ranked first and second respectively.

Punjab present 163 target score for Delhi

By losing a toss in the match, Kings XI Punjab team present a target scored of 163 runs by losing 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs for Delhi Capitals. For Punjab, Chris Gayle scored the highest 69 runs. Mandeep Singh has contributed 30 runs. Harpreet Brar was unbeaten by 20 runs.

Shikhar Dhawan scored half-century for Delhi in the match. He scored 56 runs in 41 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Apart from them, Captain Shreyas Iyer led a great victory to his team. He scored an unbeaten 58 in 49 balls with 5 fours and 1 sixes.

Colin Ingram scored 19 and Prithvi Shaw 13 runs. For Punjab, Hardus Viljoen took 2 and Mohammed Shami 1 wicket and Two players of Delhi Capitals, Prithvi Shaw and Akshar Patel, were run out. Shreyas Iyer was selected as the Man of the Match for his captaincy inning.


Indian team for ICC World Cup 2019
